With the arrival of the festival season NME - the most iconic music magazine in the world - today announces the release of NME Presents The Essential Bands - Festival Edition - a very special compilation of all of the best artists on this year's festival circuit hand picked by NME. Released in association with the UK's biggest compilation label Universal Music TV, the festival edition CD is the ultimate compilation album to get music lovers in the mood for summer. The first two NME Presents The Essential Bands albums have collectively sold over 600,000 copies and the third in the series is set to be just as huge with festival headlining acts such as Bloc Party, Razorlight, Kasabian and Maximo Park making an appearance. Also featuring massive festival anthems and excellent tracks from bands such as Gossip, The Killers, Klaxons, The View, Muse and Fall Out Boy, the CD showcases the very best acts to form part of the festival calendar. NME editor Conor McNicholas says: "These are all the tunes the dedicated music fan needs to get them to and from the huge variety of amazing live events this summer. The British rock festival season is bigger than ever and we felt we had to mark this with an equally mammoth release. If you haven't managed to get tickets for anything then put this on your bedroom stereo and turn it up - it's the next best thing to being there." Simon King, Universal Music TV product manager, adds: "It's great to work with NME again on this, the third in the NME Presents The Essential Bands series of albums. NME is synonymous with the festival season; a season that gets bigger, better, and more popular every year. This album reflects both the best acts from this summer's festival line-ups and NME's commitment to new music, both from the biggest current bands on the scene and the up-and-coming new artists on the edge of greatness."
